From
Producer
I
am sure that anytime you hear about hidden camera you most likely remember
a funny scene or a hidden camera episode you saw in the past . This
can bring a smile to your lips even years later. But as a producer of
a hidden camera show one point is very clear for me, and that is, you
as an audience can never imagine how hard it is to produce a short scene
of hidden camera. Often days, and weeks of hard and non-stop work is
needed to produce nice and usable hidden camera scenes.
Four
years ago when I first made the decision to produce America's Craziest
Cabby I had no idea what I was getting into. Simply put, I really had
no idea of just how hard it would be to do such a job in America. It
would, in some cases, take weeks of near hits and many misses to produce
just five minutes of usable footage.
Sometimes
it seems as if a new TV show is born every day here in America even
though there are so many TV shows there are relatively few hidden camera
shows in comparison.
Why
are there so few?
My
guess is because creating a hidden camera show is a hard technical and
risky business to begin with.
I
started working on this show four years ago with a dream that I could
create a nice high quality and funny show that could make people laugh
and happy and give them an opportunity to forget their problems for
a short period of time.
With
this dream I started writing my scenarios and stories and established
a cab company. I bought a cab and started driving day and night exactly
like a real cab driver. I am proud to tell you that I learned every
single technique a professional cab driver should know, and this was
the hardest part of my project. That part I can probably never really
explain.
Now
I am proud to tell you after four years of non-stop hard work and spending
more than one thousand days of my life our production is ready for market
test.
In
the end I need to mention a couple of important points briefly. First,
the biggest difference between the other hidden camera shows and America's
Craziest Cabby is America's Craziest Cabby is not produced by one of
the major networks with the millions of dollars to back it up.
Second,
America's Craziest Cabby is a real and pure reality-hidden camera show.
Honolulu Pictures Film Production Company and myself as producer and
actor have taken a big risk to produce such a show.
Sincerely,
Morad Shaker,
