When
the Honolulu pictures Film Production Company began pre-production
on America’s Craziest Cabby it was always understood the finding
America’s Craziest Cabby was going to be the most difficult
task of all.
The criteria was three fold. First, the project needed a comedic
actor with a high degree of charm to pull off the pranks and still
maintain a continuity with the story lines. Secondly, the actor
had to be skilled and licensed to actually drive a real taxi cab
that was specially out fitted the hidden camera rig. Lastly, the
actor/cab driver had to be able to operate the very complex four
camera rig while executing the prank, maintaining the story line,
driving the cab and of course trying to get a good laugh in the
process.
With this criteria in mind we set out to find the one person that
could do all these tasks at the same time.
Morad Shaker, the shows producer said, “We looked at the most
skilled professional cab drivers we could find in America , but
in order to meet liability concerns their driving record needed
to be perfect. This proved to be an impossible task.”
“As for finding comedic talent in America there were a few
that had the charisma and charm that we were looking for, but none
had the driving skill to be a believable cabby not to mention the
ability to work the camera rig.”
After a long and pointless search Morad determined that there was
little chance of finding the right person. He decided this person
needed to be created.
Morad, having designed and built the special hidden camera system,
set out to establish himself as America’s Craziest Cabby.
“I
started my own cab company, bought a couple of cabs, started seriously
driving day and night exactly like a real cab driver and I got to
be very good at it, said Morad.” “I practiced working
the cameras while driving my fares through the streets of Honolulu.
Always refining the process until it became second nature to me.”
I have logged over 150,000 miles. Carried thousands of passengers
and in this process I have not had a single accident. I never got
a ticket. I never had any kind of violation.”
Morad
had done what no one had done before. He had become a skilled professional
cab driver with a perfect record. Add to that, the skill required
to operate the multi-camera rig while carrying the fares through
the busy streets of Honolulu. Now all that was needed was to add
the Crazy part...
“That was the fun part.” Said Morad. “First of
all, the production revolved around all the crazy things that could
be done to a taxi passenger. I already had much of the story lines
and ideas at the beginning of this project. Now after having accomplished
becoming a professional cab driver and skilled camera operator I
was ready to America’s Craziest Cabby.”
Now get to know morad better:
America's
newest comedy talent, with his sweet
accent, loveable face and zany antics, brings uncontrollable
laughter to his audience.
